Moranbah State High School is known for its strong presence in sporting events, competing in a wide range of sports. The Sport faculty is split up into four main sections. These include; Interschool Sport, Carnivals, Representative Sport and Celebration of Success. Interschool Sport Over the years Moranbah State High School has participated in numerous sporting competitions. This tradition lives on with the school spirit shown every time a school team competes. Moranbah High has, and does compete in various sports. Some of these include:
Carnivals Moranbah State High has 4 team houses. These are Barada (yellow), Jambina (blue), Kerlong (green) and Wangan (red). During the year students will battle it out in 3 main Carnivals. These are: Swimming Carnival
Cross Country
Athletics Carnival
Representative School Sport Moranbah High has seen astounding results in representative school sport. Many of our students have represented Capricornia District, from Rugby League, Swimming to Soccer and Squash. Some of our students have even competed at a State Level. Capricornia School Sport http://www.capsport.qld.edu.au Celebration of Success Once a year Moranbah High has a sports awards night where students are acknowledged of their sporting achievements. Guest speakers including Aaron Payne (Rugby League), John Campbell (Australia Water Polo), Karni Liddell (paralympian medal winner) and Alexandra Bright (Australian Cyclist) have all attended this event to offer their insights and experience into performing at an elite level.
