Wellbeing Day

On Wednesday the 26th of August all students from Moranbah State high school will experience presentations from leading speakers on the issues of mental health and suicide awareness. The Moranbah community in conjunction with the Moranbah Miners rugby league club have fundraised to bring these guest speakers to Moranbah to raise awareness of mental health issues affecting teenagers in our community. These topics include:

· Depression, Anxiety and Resilience in Society - Matthew Johnstone (Sydney)

· Peer Pressure and doing what is right, not what you think your friends want you to do - Luke Kennedy (Sydney)

· Alcohol fuelled violence and Party Safe tips - Paul Stanley (Brisbane) and SGT Nigel Dalton (Mackay)

WE are asking students to arrive at the Moranbah community centre at 9:00am and they will be dismissed at 3:00pm. Students that come to school on the Coppabella Bus will be dropped off and picked up at the community centre while our senior students have been asked to stay for the entire day even though they would normally leave at 12:00pm. Students have been asked to bring their own lunch though the student council will be doing a sausage sizzle and selling drinks. At no stage will students be allowed to enter town square to buy lunch or other items during the day. We anticipate this event to be extremely enlightening for our students and one that they will remember for a long time.
